Given Carolina's current situation at cornerback, it was only a matter of time until someone mocked Louisville product Jaire Alexander to the Panthers. Matt Miller of Bleacher Report did just that in his latest projection.
Alexander, who is a Charlotte native, was one of the top performers at the Scouting Combine and he's been rising up the cornerback rankings. He told WFNZ recently he believes he's the best corner in the draft.
"Of course... not afraid to say it," Alexander said. "It's a Charlotte thing. I'm not lacking in confidence."
We've also got two safeties featured in this week's mock draft report: Justin Reid from Stanford (subscription) and Ronnie Harrison from Alabama. The Panthers have selected a safety in the first round only once before – back in 2005 when they chose Thomas Davis, who obviously went on to play linebacker.
The wide receiver spot also has two representatives this week: Calvin Ridley from Alabama and D.J. Moore from Maryland. Despite trading for Torrey Smith and signing Jarius Wright, the Panthers could use more talent at receiver.
