Marquis Haynes, Ian Thomas added to active roster

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers added some veteran reinforcements to the roster on Saturday.

The team added tight end Ian Thomas and outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. to the 53-man roster.

To make room for the moves, they placed center Austin Corbett on injured reserve after he suffered a season-ending torn biceps last week.

Thomas has been practicing the last two weeks as he's worked his way back from a stint on injured reserve with a calf injury. He adds depth there, since the starter, Tommy Tremble, was ruled out because of a concussion.

Haynes was signed to the practice squad last week, bringing the 2018 fourth-round pick back to the only team he's played for. He's some needed help at the position since Jadeveon Clowney is doubtful with a shoulder injury.

The team also activated defensive tackle T.J. Smith and offensive lineman Brandon Walton from the practice squad (standard elevation). Cornerback Dane Jackson was downgraded to out for Sunday's game. He has another week to practice as he works to return from injured reserve.
