Who's going to win?
Each week in the NFL, fans and media members alike share their opinions and make their game picks.
This year, Panthers.com is showing you what Madden 17 has to say. This Sunday, the Panthers host the Vikings. Minnesota took an early lead and hung close throughout the first half, but a third-quarter surge keyed the Panthers to a 27-10 victory.
Leading 10-3 at half, Carolina took command when quarterback Cam Newton hit tight end Greg Olsen for a 23-yard touchdown and wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin for a 12-yard score in the third quarter to make it 24-3. The Vikings finally found the end zone in the fourth quarter to make it a two-score game, but Graham Gano drilled a 56-yard field goal to erase any doubt.
The defense carried the day, with starting defensive ends Charles Johnson and Kony Ealy getting in the sack column in support of linebacker Luke Kuechly's 12 tackles. The running game without Jonathan Stewart – out with a hamstring injury – controlled things, with Cameron Artis-Payne rushing for 77 yards and Fozzy Whitakker adding 43 and scoring the first-half touchdown that gave the Panthers a lead they'd never relinquish.
Player of the Game: It once again was Newton, who completed 80 percent of his passes (24-of-30) for 296 yards and two touchdowns.
