Who's going to win?
Each week in the NFL, fans and media members alike share their opinions and make their game picks.
This year, Panthers.com is showing you what Madden 17 has to say. This week, the Panthers host the San Diego Chargers. After a wide-open first half, the defense stood their ground in the second half, but the Panthers put together one drive to pull out a 27-23 victory.
The Chargers claimed a 7-3 lead late in the first quarter on a 2-yard touchdown run by Melvin Gordon, opening the flood gates for the offenses. The Panthers reclaimed the lead with a 9-yard touchdown run by Jonathan Stewart – who finished with 131 yards – and Graham Gano's second field goal, only to see San Diego to respond with a field goal and a touchdown pass from Philip Rivers to Tyrell Williams for a 17-13 lead.
The Panthers took the lead right back before halftime and never trailed again, but it didn't come easy. Cam Newton hit tight end Greg Olsen for a 21-yard score for a 20-17 halftime lead, and after a Chargers field goal tied it up, Newton connected with Kelvin Benjamin for an 8-yard score early in the fourth quarter that held up as the game-winner.
Player of the Game: Newton threw for just 189 yards, but he tossed two touchdowns against no interceptions and also added 47 yards on the ground.
