Defensive end Charles Johnson continues to make a positive impact on his hometown of Hawkinsville, Ga.

It hasn't gone unnoticed.

Johnson was awarded the key to the city during his fourth annual Sports Academy & Community Weekend recently held at Hawkinsville High School. During the free camp, Johnson rewarded a pair of students with $20,000 scholarships from the Charles Johnson Foundation.

Johnson's continuing connection with his hometown isn't limited to his annual summer camp. In December, Johnson provided transportation and about 60 tickets for the Hawkinsville football team to attend the Panthers' victory over the Atlanta Falcons that clinched Carolina's second consecutive NFC South title. A couple of weekends before at the Georgia Dome, Hawkinsville won its first state title since winning back-to-back crowns in 2003 – Johnson's senior year – and 2004.
