CHARLOTTE - Defensive tackle Kawann Short is listed as questionable for Sunday's home finale against the Falcons, but head coach Ron Rivera said he'd "be surprised if he doesn't play."
Short was questionable for last week's game with a calf injury suffered in practice but played.
Quarterback Cam Newton, as announced early in the week, is out for the Falcons game. Taylor Heinicke is set to make his first NFL start in Newton's stead.
The Panthers practiced inside Friday, busing over to the Charlotte Convention Center.
"We've had two hurricanes come through. We've had snow for a week. Steady rain for a couple of weeks. We've had a lot," Rivera said. "It's been trying, but one of the things I've tried to get guys to understand is how important it is to focus through those things."
