CHARLOTTE – Safety Dean Marlowe is doubtful for the regular season opener against the Denver Broncos with a hamstring injury.
Marlowe returned to practice on a limited basis this week. Head coach Ron Rivera said the Panthers will bring practice squad safety Marcus Ball to Denver in case they need an emergency option.
Rookie defensive tackle Vernon Butler (hand) and linebacker A.J. Klein (back) are questionable. They both practiced fully on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The NFL has removed the "probable" designation from injury reports and adjusted the definitions of "questionable" and "doubtful. "Questionable" means that it's uncertain as to whether the player will play in the game, and "doubtful" means that it is unlikely the player will play.
