ATLANTA -- The Panthers will be without running back Jonathan Stewart for their regular season finale in Atlanta.
Stewart's back tightened up Sunday morning, and the Panthers decided to sit him out after a pregame warmup with trainers. The 10-year veteran, who hadn't missed a game this year, was on track to play a full 16-game season for the first time since 2011.
With Stewart out, the Panthers will likely split carries between rookie Christian McCaffrey and Cameron Artis-Payne.
Safety Kurt Coleman entered the game questionable with an ankle injury and the Panthers opted to make him inactive. Veteran Jairus Byrd is set to start in Coleman's place.
On Friday, the Panthers ruled out guard Trai Turner, who remains in the concussion protocol. This will be the third consecutive missed game for Turner.
