DETROIT -- Below are the inactives for Sunday's game between the Panthers and Lions at Ford Field.
Defensive tackle Vernon Butler is a surprise inactive. The former first-round pick missed the season opener with a knee injury but has played in the last three games, posting three tackles.
Without Butler in the lineup, an opportunity arises for rookie defensive end Bryan Cox, who is set to make his NFL debut. The undrafted rookie from Flordia was promoted from the practice squad last week.
