CHARLOTTE — The Panthers placed running back Chuba Hubbard on injured reserve Saturday as a result of a calf injury.
Hubbard practiced on a limited basis Friday and was listed as questionable on the final injury report of the week.
But after practice, Hubbard complained of pain, and an MRI Friday night revealed a Grade 2 calf strain, which would have kept him out of the final two games.
Hubbard rushed for a career-high 1,195 yards this season, which is sixth in the league entering Week 17. He also scored a career-best 10 touchdowns.
He was named NFC offensive player of the week last week for his 152-yard, two-touchdown game against the Cardinals, which included the game-winning touchdown in overtime.
