CHARLOTTE – Cam Newton, a staple on the NFL Network's annual "Top 100 Players" list, has landed at No. 25 on this year's countdown.

Newton was first eligible for the list in 2012 and has now made it all seven times. Newton is one of five quarterbacks to make the list every year from 2012-17, along with Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Ben Roethlisberger. All five have or are expected to make the list in 2018.

This past season, Newton became the winningest quarterback in Panthers history, helping Carolina finish 11-5 and qualify for the playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons. Along the way, he threw for 3,302 yards and 22 touchdowns and paced Carolina with a career-high 754 rushing yards and six touchdowns to become the first quarterback in NFL history to amass 50 touchdowns on the ground.

Newton joins linebacker Thomas Davis (No. 73) as Panthers to make the list this season. Linebacker Luke Kuechly is expected to show up somewhere in the top 20.
