We're just over a week away from the NFL Draft and things are starting to get serious. But that doesn't mean there's a clear frontrunner for the Panthers' pick at No. 7.
Like usual, the prognosticators are split between a few recurring names for Carolina. Let's take a look.
Whether it's the appeal of the "positionless" versatility of Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons, or the need to shore up the middle of the defense with a big body like Auburn's Derrick Brown, those two are once again front and center in many mocks. Another recurring name is Ohio State cornerback Jeff Okudah, who NFL.com's Bucky Brooks projects to land in Carolina.
But the most intriguing prediction from this week's picks comes from Trevor Sikkema at The Draft Network. Sikkema mocked South Carolina defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw to the Panthers, a name Carolina has seen a few times before, but what's interesting is how he gets to Charlotte.
Instead of taking Kinlaw at No. 7, Sikkema thinks the Panthers will deal that pick to the Broncos in exchange for their No. 15 overall pick, plus a third- and fourth-round pick in this year's draft and a fourth-rounder in 2021.
