The Panthers have signed five players to their practice squad. All five players attended training camp and were with the team through the preseason before being waived in the final roster cutdown on Saturday.

WR | Jason Chery | R | Louisiana-Lafayette |
DT | George Hypolite | R | Colorado |

Cantwell, Chery and Ivy had originally been signed as undrafted rookie free agents by Carolina following the 2009 NFL Draft. Hypolite joined the Panthers on Aug. 5 when the team placed defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu on injured reserve, and Smith was signed as a free agent on Aug. 7 after linebackers Jon Beason and Thomas Davis suffered injuries in training camp.
Cantwell completed nine-of-16 passes for 120 yards and one touchdown with no interceptions to generate a 101.0 passer rating in two preseason games, while Chery notched four receptions for 53 yards and one touchdown in preseason action. The pair accounted for Carolina's only passing touchdown during the preseason as Cantwell connected with Chery on a 31-yard scoring strike at the New York Giants, putting the Panthers in position to tie the game late in the fourth quarter.
Hypolite, Ivy and Smith each played in all four preseason games. Hypolite posted two tackles, Ivy collected 10 tackles and forced one fumble, and Smith registered 13 tackles.
Each NFL club may carry a maximum of eight players on its practice squad. Practice squad players may not play in games without being signed to the 53-man active roster.
